Community Beach – Norfolk, VA

The Norfolk Sprint Triathlon will start on August 18, 2013 at 7:30am at Community Beach, located at 700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA.  The swim will be in the Chesapeake Bay (400 yards).  The bike will run from one side, Willoughby Bay back to Community Beach (2 laps), spanning 12 miles. The race will end with a 2-mile run on the beach! So not only will this race be a swimmer-friendly triathlon, but it will also test your running endurance with the new and improved run on the beach to end the race!

Race Day Registration

There will be race day registration. Participants will need to arrive at 6:15 to get registered for the event. T-shirts sizes can NOT be guaranteed for race day registers.  CASH OR CHECK ONLY (checks made out to Bishop’s Events, LLC).

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be at East Coast Bicycles, (1910 Colley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23517).  You must come get your packet on Saturday!

Parking

Parking will be at Community Beach (700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510), right near the transition area.

Timing

Chip Timing will be done by RacePacket.

Swim

Swim will take place in the Chesapeake Bay. Two Marine Patrol Boats will be in the water to provide safety for swimmers. Swimmers will take off in waves depending on their estimated swim time.

Competitors

Ages 10 through 100 can compete in this event. All athletes 17 & under must purchase a YOUTH ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ($10) at www.usatriathlon.org (and then register for this race as USAT Annual Members).

Awards

Awards will be handed out after the race near the transition area.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States.
