The RUN FOR AUTISM is the signature fundraising effort for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR). OAR was created in December 2001 to apply research to the challenges of autism. While many organizations fund autism research, OAR is unique in that it funds exclusively applied autism research. Applied research is research conducted to solve practical problems or develop therapies with the purpose of helping people in their everyday lives. Since its creation in 201, OAR has awarded 134 grants totaling $2.5 million to researchers and graduate students at some of the most prestigious universities in the US and abroad.
