Our September Runner Spotlight is on Rick Gatewood and Shannon Arguin.  They started running in May of 2019 after Shannon’s friend talked her in to doing the Women’s 8k in Washington, DC… which means Rick started to run when Shannon made him!  Running has helped them to meet great people, stay in shape, and motivate them.  Since they started running, they have ramped up the number of events they have done in the last few years from 10 to 30 to around 75 events in 2021!

Shannon’s most embarrassing moment is when she face planted on our Great Falls MD course, but still finished.. bloodied.  Rick’s most embarrassing moment is when Shannon beats him to the line.  On the flip side, Shannon’s biggest accomplishment is being able to run the entire 5k without stopping.  Rick’s biggest accomplishment is being able to get up everyday and run a race!

Two little known facts about both Rick and Shannon is that they have tattoos and love to travel based around good food which is one reason why they run.  In the future, Shannon wants to complete a half-marathon and Rick wants to run a race in Las Vegas.  They both enjoy the community of people with our events, the charities the races support, the challenge of the event, and the feeling after completing a race!  They both are looking forward to getting back to racing on a normal routine without wearing the masks.
