2022 Warrior 5k & Fun Run

Points count towards 5k & Back of the Pack Series.  Points will also count towards the Fall Series. Find more info about the series here.

 

This 5K run/walk travels through the quaint town of Wakefield, Virginia and out through the surrounding countryside. The streets and county roads are well-maintained for a comfortable run. There will be turns, small hills, and a nice straightaway for the competitive runner, exercise enthusiast or those new to 5K races.

Runners are encouraged to donate a canned food or non-perishable food item, if possible.  Items will be given back to the local food bank.

Runners are also encouraged to come dressed festively for the event (dressed as a turkey, for example)!

Strollers are welcome to attend this event.

Charity Information

Funds from the race will go towards our students and programs that promote a strong college preparatory education.

Fun Run – 9:30am

5k – 10am

 

Registration Fees

5k – $30, until Oct 23 ($40)

Fun Run – $15, until Oct 23 ($20)

T-shirts guaranteed to runners registered before Oct 23 (11/22 is the end of early registration).  We will order extra t-shirts for those who register after that date, but it is on a first-come first-served basis.

Live Race Results

Live results will be posted on Athlinks.com.  Additionally, there will be a QR code at the race for you to scan to immediately view your results.  Final race results with series points will be posted to our website on the Monday following your race.

 

Awards

1st Male and 1st Female winner in each age group receive a medal.  Age groups are: 14&Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+

 

Photos

We will post any photos taken by staff on our Facebook page by Tuesday after the event.

 

Social Media Challenge

On Tuesdays, we pick our favorite Instagram or Facebook post from the previous race weekend.  The winner will receive 50% off a future race!  Make sure to tag us in your race photos at:

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup is available on race morning at 9am.

 

Race Day Registration

There will be race day registration. Participants will need to arrive around 45 minutes before the race to get registered for the event. T-shirts sizes can not be guaranteed for race day registers.

 

Water Stations

There will be 1 water station along the 5k course at approximately mile marker 2.  Water stations are subject to change as deemed necessary.

 

Restrooms

Bathrooms are located in the Academy.

 

Weather Policy

Weekly weather reports are posted on the Thursday before race weekends on our Facebook page by Chad Merrill with the Hagerstown Almanack.  Race officials may delay, change or postpone the event due to weather conditions.  All registered runners will be notified via email of any changes.  In most cases, a decision is not made until the night before the race, and a decision could come as late as the morning of the event.
